Have you ever heard something you cannot un-hear once you hear it?
Something that imprints its message so intensely and thoroughly that you know it will change you?
Well friend, the quote below, although some may think is rather ordinary, is extraordinary to me.
“We create our habits then our habits become our permanence.” Helene Hadsell
Once heard, I knew there was no going back. Talk about permanence… those words are forever imprinted.
What are We Habitually Doing, Thinking, and Being?
Back to our quote - “We create our habits then our habits become our permanence.”
Because I understand Helene’s meaning of permanence as - who we become - thus I understand our habits become us.
Therefore, if we become our habits the question is:
What are We Habitually Doing, Thinking, and Being?
We all have many habits, however before we begin diving into all of our habits, let’s take a look at the habit that I believe defines us… our habit that creates our permanence.
The Number 1 Habit
Becoming habitual with caring about how we feel is probably our most important habit to creating permanency that is soulfully satisfying.
Dear, below you’ll find some questions, notice how you answer each question. Then notice when answering the question how you feel.
Do your answers give you a feeling of satisfaction or dissatisfaction?
Your answers are your keys to creating your soulfully satisfying permanence.
How do you want to feel?
Questions to Get Us Started
If you will, ponder for a moment on these questions:
But first, it’s important to remember this isn’t about judging yourself. It’s about becoming aware of the permanence you’re creating.
So please, take a breath and with loving kindness continue.
How do I move about in the world? (With your everyday tasks, activities, etc.)
Do you move around in a hurry, with ease, worried? Do you feel you have enough time or are you always trying to run against time?
What is your habitual way of moving about in your world?
What do I think when I feel a new desire pulling at my heartstrings?
Do you get excited and expect to have your desire? Or do you immediately get anxious about how you’ll get it?
Do you feel defeated before you even begin? Or do you feel inspired to take action?
Do you get bogged down with trying to figure out how to get it? Or do you feel that the Universe will open the way for you?
What is your habitual response/reaction to your new desire?
What do I think when others act differently than I expect?
Do you think that they should not be acting that way or wish they would act the way you would? Or do you appreciate their differences?
Do you tell others about their behavior or do you keep it to yourself?
Do you judge them or bless them?
What is your habitual reaction to others who act differently than you?
What do I do when I’m disappointed?
When something doesn’t turn out the way you want, do you throw in the towel and sink into disappointment? Or do you decide that there must be another way, maybe even better way to have what you want?
Do you comfort yourself and move on or do you waddle in your disappointment?
What is your habitual way of handling disappointment?
My Turn Around
Last week in my post I mentioned that I was creating new habits.
Although I like to think I’m a pretty aware person, as always, I’m discovering how much more there is to learn. Through an abundance course I’m presently taking, I’m becoming super aware of my habits.
As fate would have it, while in the middle of my course, I hear those extraordinary words: We create our habits then our habits become our permanence.
That was enough to remove any lingering hesitation or resistance I might have.
My commitment to mastering feeling good became my number 1 priority.
To Begin Feeling Good Start with the Little Things
To increase my feeling good state I’ve started with the little things.
With moving around in the world…
I smile more everywhere I go. And I make sure if a stranger makes eye contact with me, I make eye contact back. If a stranger starts a conversation, I stop what I’m doing and show up fully.
I slow down while running errands and tell myself that I AM taking my time. Also, on my way to my destination, I appreciate the place I’m going. If going to the post office, I might say something like - I love how the postal employees decorate our little post office for the holidays. I so appreciate the efficient and friendly service I receive.
When in traffic, I tell myself that all is in perfect time and that I don’t care how much time it takes because there is always plenty of time. I then send love to everyone on the highway.
With my desires…
When I get concerned about the timing of my desires I remind myself that I’m on a journey and that the journey is happening now.
If I doubt my ability to manifest something I gently yet firmly claim my truth that, “I AM a master manifestor.” I then give myself the pleasure of revisiting some of my past manifestations.
Throughout my process of achieving anything I desire, I point out to myself the importance of feeling good. I promptly state, “Gloria, it’s all about feeling good.”
With others who act differently…
Remember the post - Ever Wonder Why Folks Do What They Do?
Anyway, in that post, I hear in meditation when judging or feeling concerned about someone to think and say, everyone is an expansion of light. That helped me so much!
Now I’m extending that idea to Blessing anyone and everyone. If I bring them forth in my thoughts or meet them out somewhere they get my blessing.
Friend, I’m talking about everyone - mere strangers I meet on the street, family members, friends, including those on Facebook, people from my past that come to mind, and especially anyone that I feel hurt me.
Wow! To turn a judgement or concern or even a nice thought into a blessing feels better than good, it feels great!
With disappointment…
Thank goodness I rarely get disappointed. But when I do, I’m practising the art of comforting myself as I would a child. Then I breathe deeply and remind myself of the truth, everything is as it should be.

May you permanently care about how you feel.
Thank you so much for being here with me. I appreciate you!
