I’m walking along and trying not to feel suffocated by the heat. As I swipe the sweat from my brow and carefully watch my step so I don’t run into anyone, it occurs to me that I’ve been thinking that this right here! is what I thought I’d been missing?
Really!?
Although I love Volcano Hawaii, I often think about those on the other side (Kona) who have warmer days, calmer beaches, more touristy stuff, and beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
Well, I’m here to say that after spending the last two weekends on the Kona side - with all its heat and crowded beaches and streets, even with its beautiful sunrises and sunsets - I’m happy to report that having experienced what I thought was greener grass, left me with a newfound appreciation for my grass.
Appreciation Greens Our Grass
Since I’ve been home I have said more times than I can count, “I love Volcano. I love our weather. Isn’t it wonderful that our days our cooler? Isn’t it great that we don’t have high humidity? Don’t ya just love how quiet and small our town is?”
And on and on I go… my husband just smiles.
In addition to my rampages of appreciation, I’m quietly - while meditating, walking, petting my cat, or just sitting around my home - experiencing fresh joy for my rainforest surroundings.
I’m in appreciation overflow. And I’m loving it!
This appreciation has led me down not only a path of joy but also a path of discovery.
