Spiritual Amazement
My husband and I were conversing about where to move when we returned to the mainland. He says, “Just meditate, and you’ll get a zip code.
My response was, “I can’t get a zip code!”
He smiles at me and says, “Sure you can.” With that, he walks away.
I stand there thinking, He always thinks I can do anything. Ugh… There are some things I don’t know how to intuit! In a huffish manner off I go to meditate.
Well, in meditation I tentatively ask, much like a child asking for a second cookie, for the perfect zip code for Mehmet and me. And Voila… just like that numbers float across my inner vision.
Oh my goodness! It worked. I got a zip code! Then my doubt kicks in - no way, I probably just got a bunch of random numbers.
I can’t get up fast enough. I scurry to my computer to punch in the numbers.
I can’t believe it! It’s a place. WOW!! I did it. I really did it. I got a zip code.
I laugh out loud.
My friend says to me, “You have the gift. You can connect with the deceased.”
My response was, “I don’t know about that. Yeah, I’ve had a few encounters with them. But I don’t think I can just call on them.”
She replies, “Sure you can. Go ahead and call on my Dad.”
My body immediately reacts with sweaty palms and a beating heart, “Right now?!”
I can feel her smile through the phone, “Sure. Go ahead, I’ll help you hold the energy.”
I answer without a trace of conviction, “Ah, well, okay.”
I close my eyes and take several deep breaths. I then say a prayer and call her Dad by name.
He shows up! And we have the most wonderful, healing conversation.
Stretching Beyond
I’m on my way to teach a class and my teaching partner calls and says she won’t be coming. She explains further by saying she won’t be teaching these classes with me anymore because she feels complete with teaching Law of Attraction principles. What?!
I’m indignant, “I’m on my way to class and now you tell me! Can’t you come to this one last class? I don’t know your parts.”
She goes on to tell me that no she can’t come, and she knows that I can do it alone and that I’ll be quite good at it. She continues that she knows she’s complete, and that it’s my calling to teach alone now and she’s to allow it.
Blah, blah, blah…
Although I don’t agree with the abruptness of how she did it, ‘I felt she could have shown up for one last class,’ she was right. I discovered that by myself I was much more creatively alive. My teaching took on a life of its own, and I thrived.
I’m standing at the go-kart track shaking my head no. I’m about 17 years old. My boyfriend is pulling me toward the track. I dig in my heels.
He says, “You’ll see, it will be fun. You can go as slow as you want.”
The word slow sticks and I say, “Okay.”
Although I started in tortoise fashion, it didn’t take long before I was pushing the pedal to the metal. …hair flying in the wind, laughing, bird-free…
The next weekend when he asks what I want to do for the weekend, with a toothy grin, I readily reply, “Go-kart riding.”
Embracing My Amazement
In each of the above instances, I thought I couldn’t do it.
I created boundaries around my abilities - around my creativity.
Each time I was amazed. I was amazed that I could expand my spiritual gifts, my teaching abilities, and my fun!
In each instance, once I embraced my amazement my confidence expanded and with that expansion, my creativity took on new life.
Now, when I think I can’t do something spiritually that I’ve never done before, although I may pause and even doubt, I go for it. What the heck, I may discover that I can do it!
With my teaching, I continue to go beyond that which I’ve done before. I allow myself to drum up new ideas even when I don’t have a clue how they might work out. Because I now trust that I can ‘always with my God-Presence’ show up and make a difference.
Although I still don’t take too many physical risks, I will do something on the physical side if I truly want to. I never thought I could walk 6 miles but I did, and I’ve walked it several times. I’m now looking at exercise classes that I never thought I could do.
Limitless Creativity
I remember saying to a friend that I wasn’t creative. With wide eyes and in a surprised tone she said, “You’re kidding. You’re the most creative person I know.”
I’ve often thought of her comment. We never know when we’ll make a difference in someone’s life. That one comment opened doors for me that I would have kept closed.
I began looking at creativity differently.
I saw that anytime I ventured out beyond where I was at - I was being creative.
I expanded my perspective of creativity to include not only creating something but also coming up with new and improved ways of doing anything - when figuring out a way to get out of traffic, finding the perfect parking spots at my favorite places, trying something new in my coffee like cinnamon to replace something more sugary to satisfy my sweet tooth, figuring out how to be more organized, adding a spice to a meal that I’ve never tried before, and replacing my sink curtains by using kitchen curtains - our ways of being creative are limitless.
We All Embody Limitless Creativity
If there’s something you want to creatively do but it feels too scary, don’t start there.
Start by noticing all the ways you are already creative. Build upon your creativity muscles first.
Notice when you find a better way to do anything and acknowledge that you’ve used your creativity.
Or… revisit your past and write down times when you ventured out with your creativity.
Baby steps, my friend, baby steps.
And…if you’d like to have supportive fun with it, then please join our Limitless Creatives Membership. We’d love to revel in your limitless creativity with you. Even if it means taking baby steps. We’ll hold your hand along the way.
