Truth doesn’t have to feel like ripping off a band-aid, as long as, it’s enfolded in love.
I sit holding my breath, and my friend whispers, “I hope he doesn’t call on me.”
I gasp, “I hope he doesn’t call on me!”
We’re sitting among 150 plus students, most of us, if not all of us, are fearful of being called on - fearful of hearing the truth.
Later in the dining room, “Whew…I’m so glad he didn’t call on me!”
A fellow student replies, “Yeah, who needs their skin turned inside-out.”
My comrades and I shake our heads, heartily agreeing.
It’s funny (in a strange way) that we perceive hearing the truth as having our skin turned inside-out. Here we are students who have paid thousands of dollars to become teachers who help others grow, yet we are afraid of our own growth.
We are afraid of hearing the truth.
Why is it that most of us shy away from (sometimes running so fast we trip over our own feet) uncovering what has been covered?
Why aren’t we raring to deal with what’s inside us?
What do we think we will uncover? (A big, ugly monster…?)
Workshop gathering:
They walk into the workshop tentatively, a shy smile on their faces. They’re eager but they’re oh-so-afraid.
I call on my first participant and begin uncovering the truth. She’s anxious but tries to disguise her uneasiness with a pained smile.
The others watch intently as if they’re waiting for me to rip off her band-aid. She sighs with relief, and finally laughter when I tell her the truth of her:
You’re doing the best you can.
You’re in a perfect place to continue your growth.
You’re using (fill in the blank) to try and move through your pain.
You don’t need to judge yourself; you can love yourself through it.
You’re blessed with gifts.
You’re an amazing woman.
I feel the other participants relax a little as they watch the transformation that takes place within their friend as she embraces truth in the power of love.
Truth doesn’t have to feel like ripping off a band-aid, as long as, it’s enfolded in love.
Try it…look lovingly (the way you would with a child or a special someone) at what you’re too afraid to uncover and you may discover that –
You’re doing the best you can.
You’re in a perfect place to continue your growth.
You’re using (fill in the blank) to try and move through your pain.
You don’t need to judge yourself; you can love yourself through it.
You’re blessed with gifts.
You’re an amazing woman. (or man)
How about you: I would love to hear from you.
Have you experienced the power of love when uncovering a truth?
What difference did it make for you?
Thanks so much for being here with me.
I truly appreciate the amazing person you are!
In love and gratitude,
Gloria
Gloria, I have totally felt that way. I felt like I was going to die. Fear of saying something stupid or just not knowing what to say. When we get to know the truth of who we truly are and can always know our hearts are pure, we can be ourselves, even if we make a mistake. I truly have learned to laugh at ALL of my mistakes. I know longer even see them as mistakes, but more as growth. I also don't believe we can have success without failures, for that is how we learn. We Learn by being our human selves, sometimes by stepping out afraid, but doing it anyway.
Thanks for your GGG's. Gloria's Godly Goodies!!!!❤ I treasure each one!🧰
