Activate Your Inner JOY Compass
(The following meditative experience happened in late 2020.)
Deep in meditation, I hear the word – Noblemen. I internally respond, What!
Before I can drum up more thoughts about the out-of-the-blue word, I see with my inner eyes a line of twelve noblemen. I figure they must be noblemen with their aristocratic tunics, leggings, and breeches. They look like they could have been friends with King Arthur!
I feel a sense of expectancy like something important is about to take place. I want to hold my breath, but I know that inhaling deeply would most certainly benefit me more. I breathe deeply.
The noblemen move as one and come closer to me.
I feel a stirring in the pit of my belly and a bit of nervous energy, I take another deep breath.
The nobleman directly in front of me reaches out his hands, and I place my hands in his. He has a gentle touch. His sincere eyes meet mine with such love and presence that I instantly feel at ease, while at the same time I have this uncanny deep-in-my-bones feeling that I need to pay close attention.
My hands are warmly held in his, and with his piercing blue eyes, he says, “Everything is about finding your Inner Joy Compass. All is about that. You must find your Inner Joy Compass.”
He then moves aside and the nobleman behind him steps forward. He looks deeply into my hazel eyes.
Then he says, “Twelve.” Just twelve. I wait.
Next, I see before me in Kaleidoscope fashion a calendar with the twelve months of the year, a dozen donuts on a tray, an outline of a body with the twelve chakras lit up, the twelve disciples (I know they’re the disciples because I see Jesus surrounded by them).
He pauses and continues, “It’s all about activation and reactivation.”
The next thing I witness in my inner eyes is watching him plug and unplug my Christmas tree lights, several times.
Each time he plugs, unplugs, and then plugs again he says, “Activation and reactivation.” He goes on, “Activate and reactivate and reactivate again and again and again.”
He reaches for my hands and with a stern, yet loving tone says, “You must activate and reactivate again and again your Inner Joy Compass. When you commit to your Joy, you will be like your Christmas tree, you will light up, illuminate, and brighten everything. You will show your beauty.”
He moves aside and a third nobleman steps forward.
His radiant eyes meet mine, and I feel like I’m swimming in his crystal-green gaze. He says, “There are twelve moral codes which are the Twelve Faces of GOD. To experience the Twelve Faces of GOD one must begin with activating one’s Inner Joy Compass.”
My mind reels…there are twelve faces of God! I’ve never heard of the twelve faces of God. I wonder what they are.
Apparently, he can hear my thoughts, he responds, “They are more than you think, more than any words you can use to describe them. Each one is expansive, vast, and unlimited.”
In loud voices, all the noblemen in unison proclaim, “Unconditionalness!”
Immediately I think, that’s not a proper word.
Before I can conjure up another thought –as if I’m on a cosmic ride that carries me into an experience that’s beyond my control - my cells tingle with aliveness and an outpouring of love blissfully showers me with its luminosity. So much so that all my senses go into a state of overwhelm and I begin to cry.
Wow!
Can you imagine such an experience?
I mean really? Noblemen. Inner Joy Compass. Unconditionalness.
Whew!
I’ll give you the best descriptive shot that I can of my Other Worldy experience.
Blissful. Disorienting. Exhilarating.
And I believe, that by the Grace of God, I got a hint of what Unconditionalness feels like.
It was a feeling of total acceptance, love, understanding, compassion all balled into one, like a new mother’s love as she looks upon the miracle of her precious newborn.
As I take in this glorious, other-worldly energy, my heart opens as I realize that Unconditionalness is always given for everyone at all times.

It’s All About The JOY
I come out of the meditation in a fog.
Whirling…12 faces of God! Really!? Okay, so if there are 12 faces of God, will I be hearing about each one? If I’ll be hearing about them, then when, when will they come?
Whoa…and those noblemen? What is that all about?
This idea of unconditionalness, what do I do about it? Am I to begin a practice of it? And if so, how?
With the warmth of the unconditionalness energy still deliciously active within me…
Okay, I get it! It all begins with following your inner joy compass. Ooh, I like that phrase - inner joy compass.
Ah, now that’s a place I can start.
So, in my less-than-perfect human way, I begin practicing what I believe it means to follow my inner joy compass.
I begin by just thinking about it. While writing, cleaning, petting my cats, giving a session, driving, sitting with my husband, exercising, even while showering.
Whatever I did throughout my day, my question went with me, am I following my inner joy compass?
It became like a perpetual mantra that I couldn’t turn off.
I became joy conscience.
Does watching this show bring me joy? Am I enjoying this conversation? Do I really enjoy staying up too late?
While listening to a grumpy man in line in front of me - boy he could use some joy! Immediately following - Okay, so did that thought create joy?
After a while, I found NOT being in my joy intolerable.
If I were tired or frustrated or discouraged, my thoughts went to - how can I bring joy here?
After asking the question an answer would pop up.
If tired instead of trying to push my way through I would take a nap or meditate. If frustrated I would breathe my way through. If discouraged I would compassionately ask myself some loving questions…what’s up dear? What belief are you tied to? What is it you need? How can I support you?
My life took on new meaning. Everything felt lighter and brighter and deeper and richer.
Then, my friend, the courageous soul I always attempt to be went on to share my joy journey with others by creating a course around it.
Dearest, what I understand from the teaching and participating in the joy course is that to fully embrace the journey of joy you must be willing - to love your way through.
It doesn’t matter where you are on the joy spectrum. What matters is where you want to be and how much you’ll choose to go there.
You must love your way through whatever it is that keeps you from choosing to allow joy to be your focal point.
So, what do you think?
Are you up for loving yourself so big that you choose to follow your inner joy compass?
“Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.” Henri J.M. Nouwen
“You must activate and reactivate again and again your Inner Joy Compass. When you commit to your Joy, you will be like your Christmas tree, you will light up, illuminate, and brighten everything. You will show your beauty.”
