Enjoy this lovely article written by Roseann Smith where she discovers what it means to live - Heaven on Earth.
Now and then, I visualize myself as a famous writer and artist.
My mind envisions me painting the perfect painting or writing the perfect story, which I desperately embrace in my mind’s eye.
I can see myself bowing in front of my painting to crowds of people applauding me. I see a hundred people waiting for a signed copy of my latest book.
Ultimately, my mind flows to owning the grandest houses, cars, vacations, and jewelry.
At this point in my fantasy, I ask myself, “Is this Heaven on Earth?”
To my soul’s surprise, I always hear a loud, resounding, hard-to-ignore, NO!
What then, am I left with?
The question
This question haunts me:
What is a life worth living if it isn’t to follow your dream, seek fame, and possess life's riches?
It’s usually then I sober up and turn toward my true north, which is what I
always hear deep in my soul: Seek ye first the Kingdom of God...
And all these things shall be added unto you.
A Book’s Reminder
I’m reminded of a book that put it all in perspective, Conversations With God, written by Neale Donald Walsch.
It was a series of books where Walsch asked God questions to help him understand why he was put on this earth.
Walsch wanted to know his life’s purpose. He wanted to know why everything in his
life was such a hardship, such a struggle—much like myself in many ways.
What is my purpose in life? Why was I put on this earth?
I spent my working life as an elementary teacher. Wasn’t that enough?
I thought it was at the time, but now I’m not so sure.
What is the true purpose of our life on earth?
The answers Neale Donald Walsch received through his published works weren’t life-shattering or anything like the sky opening and wisdom pouring down.
The answers Walcsh received were so simple that most of us, including Walsch, missed them.
The purpose of our life here on earth is NOT ABOUT OURSELVES!
Walsch writes, “Your life is not about you. Your life is about everyone else
whose life you touch!”
This was a game-changer for me.
A True North Game-Changer
The more I read Walsch’s Conversations With God, the more I felt in tune with my true north.
I started viewing the world differently.
Instead of wishing for or chasing fame and fortune, I began writing and producing art content that spoke to the higher good.
I began to look for and found incidents where I could serve and touch the lives of my fellow humans on this life’s journey.
My changed attitude made me ready and willing to be a servant to my fellow journeymen.
Instead of looking for what I could take, I began to look for what I could give.
I started writing articles about people doing good for others and the environment.
I also began producing art content on nature, beautiful land, and seascapes.
The Shift
I made a shift.
I began seeing how I was connected to my fellow human beings.
I had an epiphany about how we are all connected to a loving creator.
I had glimpses of connectedness in a crowd or in the smile of the person I held a door open for.
These glimpses of wonderment changed my view of life and how I lived it.
Today, I understand these special moments and allow them to flow through me as I move about my day.
Deep in my soul, I now know how to find my True North.
I now know how to find......Heaven on Earth!
Thank you, Roseann, for sharing your journey. Beautiful!
With love to all,
Gloria
